Foxglove is one of the better known floral embossed wares that was produced by Carlton Ware; it was introduced in the early 1940's.† Foxglove was a very popular pattern and still is loved and collected profusely by many collectors.
The embossed design is a very detailed and intricate depiction of the veins of a leaf including the ridged edges.† The flower also is very realistically detailed along with its stem and leaves.† The main colourways are green and yellow.† They both have the foxglove flowers painted in the colour of purple and the leaves are green but edged with a brownish tinge, perhaps suggesting that the flower has reached maturity or nearing the end of its long life.† This pattern was also produced in the rarer colourways of peach/chartreuse and†pink.
