A beautiful vintage cruet set (consisting of a salt and pepper shaker, mustard pot and tray) by Carlton Ware in the Anemone pattern in the yellow colourway which was first introduced in 1934. The Anemone pattern was one of the first "floral embossed" ranges made by Carlton Ware. It carries the standard Carlton Ware backstamp used during this period. Cruet sets are very rare in this particular pattern. It is in near excellent condition having no repairs, cracks or stains. It has no crazing, which is unusual for pieces of this age. The pepper shaker has no stopper. There is a small chip (see photo) to the edge of the mustard pot lid, but this imperfection in no way detracts from the beauty of this set. The colours are bright and vivid and this cruet set displays brilliantly. Dimensions - salt & pepper shakers - 4 cms dia., 5 cms high - mustard pot - 5½ cms dia., 4½ cms high - tray - 12½ cms x 10½ cms (measurements are approximate) |
